Arc Design Services shortlisted for Northern Design Awards

This stunning property could clinch its designers a gong

Arc Design Services has been shortlisted for the Northern Design Awards, and the firm is heading through to the finals in the “Residential Build” category for their innovative design of a residential property on Park Drive in Hale.

The house is unique in a number of ways - comprising a combination of modern architectural techniques and using of some of the latest construction materials.

Arc Design Services designed the stylish residence with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind, as well as meeting the strict planning regulations for a dwelling in a conservation area.

The five bedroom family home spans four floors, and was delivered on time and on budget.

Builders utilised a revolutionary, eco-friendly Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) technique, as well as incorporating innovative features - balancing beautiful design, energy efficiency and speed of construction.

Arc Design Services’ architectural design even included a space-saving car lift system.

The unusual feature created a new set of challenges for Arc Design Services to overcome, which brought about the need to source third-party sub-contractors and project managers.

Incorporating the car lift into the property’s forecourt meant that Arc Design Services was able to maximise the use of the whole plot to create a desirable living space, whilst still meeting the need for numerous parking spaces.

The car lift lowers to an underground garage, creating an unparalleled space-saving solution which Arc Design Services incorporated as a hidden feature, with an artificial grass roof cover.

The house itself also has an interior lift to all floors, giving people with mobility issues access to the whole building.

Arc Design Services has seen great success in recent years, with a number of awards and nominations.

These include winning the “Best Individual New Home” category at the North West LABC Building Excellence Awards 2017, the highly sought-after accolade of “Highly Commended” at the North West LABC Building Excellence Awards 2016, as being a finalist in “Property of the Year and Best Luxury Dwelling” at the 2012 Northern Design Awards.

They also scooped “Best Traditional New Home” in the Homebuilding and Renovating Awards 2010, and the “Peoples Design Award” in the Trafford Council Design awards the same year.

Jonathan Riddle, a partner in the firm, commented: “Being a finalist for this year’s Northern Design Awards ‘Residential Build’ category is a fantastic achievement for Arc Design Services.

“It is great to have our innovative architectural design work recognised by the industry, and we are so proud that we have been able to deliver a stunning, energy efficient and practical home for our clients, without compromising on style, speed of construction or budget.”

Winners of the Northern Design Awards will be announced at a gala dinner at The Principal Hotel in Manchester on 24th November 2017.
